Title: Spearfishing white (sea breams) and yellow (goatfish) among others.

Title: Spearfishing white (sea breams) and yellow (goatfish) among others..
Photo-video: Zacharias Skevofilax.
After two years due to Covid 19, I found myself again in my favourite island of Karpathos. The early morning flight to Karpathos, resulted being very tired for deep spearfishing. The weather did not help at all. The 7th Beaufort NNW winds called meltemi was another factor that forced me to fish shallowly. In the afternoon I picked up my car from from the ship. I arranged my things, I started the farm works. I cut grapes and prickly pears. The prickly pears were few, but the grapes this year were more than plenty. All-weather John (my father) has only one vine, but it could fill up to ten buckets!!! (1st picture: Agricultural obligations). So after I finished my agricultural obligations, the long-awaited plans for tomorrow's dive began. I woke up early and went shallow spearfishing in the waves. As soon as I dived and I had not swam a few meters, in front of me a good size white sea bream(Diplodus sargus) was nibbling on a dead fish. It was so busy eating that he did not realised my presence. Diving as quietly as I could and of course I did not turn on the underwater camera so that it did not make the well-known beep so the white sea bream could see me. So I dived and shot it vertically, catching a white sea bream of 650 gr. (2nd picture: The hungry one...). I happily arranged my first fish, after two years of absence from the Karpathian waters. I continued and a little further down I saw a good size yellow goatfish (Mulloidichthys martinicus). They had arrived from the Red Sea and as they say they have adopted successfully in their new environment. But their behaviours were different, in compression with the local speeches, when it comes to spearfishing. They do not lay down when they see you and are much more mobile than the local ones. I dived away from it and while it was eating, I approached it and pulled the trigger. The result was to catch another fish. (3rd picture: The first yellow...) Full of joy, I arranged it and continued. As I was swimming, I noticed that the number of yellow goatfish was enormous. I saw them almost everywhere and they were very mobile. Ambush after ambush, I reached an underwater cave, which in the past I had caught white sea breams or dusky groupers (Epinephelus guaza).
"Is there a chance????" I wondered and dived. I saw a good size white sea bream hiding in the dead seaweeds that adorn the bottom of the cave. I landed on the sea bed and turned on the flashlight, in case.... The white sea bream was surprised and tried to get deeper under the dead seaweeds, but the spear caught it. I immediately puled it out but the spear was very heavy, giving me the feeling that I was pulling a very large fish. The size of the fish brought along a bundle of seaweed. I smiled and after I cleaned it from the seaweed, I arranged it too. (4th picture: It tried ti hide but...)
"Now it's the turn of the yellow goatfish..." I thought smiling. It was as if the universe heard me, after a few ambushes, a yellow goatfish was grazing, ignoring me. It was hidden behind a stone and maybe that was the reason it was ignoring me. Almost without diving, I aimed at it and pulled the trigger, and caught my 4th fish. (5th picture: One more...). I continued ambushing or searching any rock that looked promising when the occasion required it. In an ambush, I had forgotten to activate the underwater camera, when together with the Dusky spinefoot (Siganus sp.)who surrounded me, there was a good size white sea bream among them. The fish nervously constantly changed directions, but at some point it stoped moving and I did not need anything more. I pulled the trigger and caught a white sea bream of 450gr. (6th picture: And the sea bream...)
"Now the is the turn of the yellow goatfish once more..." I thought with a smile. Indeed, in the next ambush, a school of yellow goatfish was grazing a little further away. I dived and hid, but instead of crawling towards the fish, they swam towards me. The biggest one swam in front of me and at a moment it was very close, I aimed and pulled the trigger, catching the 3rd yellow goatfish. (7th picture: One more...)
"Its a draw... 3-3...." I thought laughing. As I was arranging the fish, my gaze caught something strange on the sandy bottom. There was something strange on the seabed. I dived, after turning around the underwater camera and approached the fish. It was another illegal maritime immigrant. It was a small spot-fin porcupine fish (Diodon hystrix), which had also swam from the Red Sea. I took the necessary video shots and left it in its turmoil as it tried to get away from the monster that was chasing it. A little further down in another ambush I saw mullets (Mugil cephalus)approaching. There were many fish, but the leading ones were the small ones. So I waited for them to pass, remaining motionless. The leading fish calmed down and transmitted the calmness to the rest of the school. The biggest fish came to me and I caught one of the last and biggest ones. It was a fish close to a kilo. I arranged it with the rest and continued. A little further down I met a large, very large school of fish. I approached to see what fish there were and I froze. They are small silver-cheeked toadfish (Lagocephalus sceleratus).... Unfortunately I was not wrong and the future seemed to be ominous in this matter.... But I had reached the end of the fishing ground and I decided to return. As I was swimming next to an underwater cliff, my eyes caught a fleeting motion. A fish managed to hide, but I caught its movement at the last moment. I dived and waited and after a while a two-banded sea bream (Diplodus vulgaris) appeared all curious to see me. I aimed as best as I could, because I was crammed between the sea bed stones. I managed and to catch the fourth white sea bream. But as I razed my head out of the stones, I found out that I was surrounded by a large herd of parrotfish (Sparisoma cretense), who were curious to find out what was the hidden creature. Among them, there was a fish close to a kilo. With minimal movements, I emerged, arranged the two-banded sea bream, while one of my eyes looked at the large parrotfish. I must had been crossed eye all this time. I dived quickly, before the herd left. I was hidden among some stones and the blurry waters were on my side too. The large parrotfish stayed away from me and watched me. As the seconds were passing by, the herd started to get closer and closer to me, forcing the leader to follow them. It stayed away, but not so far away from me. It swam in circles and as it prepared to leave, it showed me its full size and I pulled the trigger. The big parrotfish tried to leave and hid under the stones but it was too late. I rushed towards it, because I did not know how good my shot was. I grabbed it and find out that I was right. The shot, due to the distance, was low in the abdomen, but I was able to catch it before it was too late. It was a large parrotfish close to the kilo (930 gr.). I did not expect to catch such a fish and happily I went towards the beach. Then I saw striped sea-bream (Lithognathus mormyrus). They were two fish away from me and were nibbling on the sandy bottom. They realised my presence and emerged to see me. I stopped swimming and stayed away from them. They continued to nibble on the seabed. There was a bundle of seaweeds on a rock that hid me from the fish. Knowing where they were, I took a deep breath and dived. I crawled above the seaweed, the following rock and in front of me the fish appeared. I aimed at the nearest fish and pulled the trigger. The spear struck thestriped sea-bream on its back and left the fish almost motionless at the bottom.(8th picture: And the striped sea-bream...). I decided that was enough for today, but Poseidon had other plans. As I was swimming, I was surrounded by a school of little amberjacks (Seriola dumerili) and yellow jacks (Carangoides bartholomaei). They constantly surrounded me and followed me no matter what I did!!! (9th picture: The new generation!!!).In the last 50 meters before getting out, I came across several yellow goatfish. So I caught five and in total the yellow goatfish beat the white sea bream by 8-4. But one incident shocked me I could confess. In an ambush I shot another yellow goatfish. The spear had fallen a few meters away, next to a stone on the sea floor and I rushed to catch my trophy before it got free. As I reached the spear and stretched out my hand to catch and secure the fish, a month full of teeth grabbed the yellow goatfish. With a sudden movement of its muscular body a Mediterranean moray eel (Muraena helena) tore the fish from the spear and disappeared under the stone. Unfortunately I did not have the scene in video. I would gladly exchange all the fish I had caught to have this video with the moray eel... I searched to find the moray eel but... In the last ambush, small silver-cheeked toadfish appeared (about a kilo). But the fish did not approach me at all. So I used a different trick to attract the fish. I started cleaning one of the fish I had caught. After a few minutes, the small ones appeared and behind them 5-6 large silver-cheeked toadfish, They approached me very quickly and fearlessly I could say. I aimed and caught very easily a 4.6 kg fish. The rest disappeared never to be seen....
For me, the first dive in Karpathos after two years, was successful, even though I did not catch anything big. My diving watch recorded 63 shallow dives in three and a half hours....(10th picture: Done for today....) (11th picture: All the trophies together...)

Title:A fishing expedition on Milos island among others.
(1st Picture: Milos island and the main port Adamadas (far right)
Milos, among other islands in the Aegean sea, has been in our plans for years. So this year we managed to visit this wonderful island. We arrived late in the afternoon and it looked a lot like Kimolos, but Milos is more cosmopolitan... Its white rocks reminded us of the homeland of chalk. What impressed me was the Light of this island. Late in the afternoon and the Light was much brighter than I have ever noticed in different parts of our wonderful country. Impressive I would say. It is a wonderful island with awesome beaches. It has so many that it could be easily compared to my favorite island Karpathos !!! (2nd Picture: Paleochori beach...). (3rd Picture: Sarakiniko beach...). We stayed a little outside Adamastas, (the main port of the island). It is a big island and the car usage was absolutely necessary. The road network was very good, but there were places that they could not be reached by car. There were some awesome beaches that could be reached only by boat. The island has great economic activity since it has perlite quarries, large greenhouses, many different crops, beehives, etc. Of course the main business activity is tourism. Unfortunately, the strong north-northwest winds 5-6 NNW, did not allow me fish in the places that I had been told, once again by my friend Theodore. Stavroula and I looked for dirt roads that led to less popular places. We did a "safari" in Milos and we saw things that unfortunately did not exist in tourist guides. We found wonderful centuries-old cedars. Tall, amazingly big trees. The "legend" says that Noah's ark was made of large cedars trees of Lebanon!!! (4th Picture: One of the old-ancient cedar tree!!!). We also found a small grand canyon in the middle of nowhere. Fortunately we did not encounter any cars coming from the opposite side, because almost all the dirt roads were very narrow. So I looked at my maps and chose a place to dive. We were impressed by its warm sea waters. Where there was sulfur on the beach, in the sea the waters were warm!!! If you dug a little deeper in the sand, the temperature was unbearable... Heat.... I noticed the same situation in the seabed too. There were yellow patches here and there on the sea floor. The sand had turned yellow due to the sulfur. I picked some to see its texture, I felt a warmth coming underneath. The same happened where bubbles came out of the bottom. Hephaestus probably had been stirring his underwater pot... Seeing the formation of the seabed, I realised that the fish would be few, very few I could say. In most spearfishing attempts, I did not catch anything, I did not even see any good size fish to get lost in the deep blue. But in two attempts, lady luck smiled at me. I started fishing and came across good sizegoatfish (Mullus surmuletus).I caught 4 and decided to go deeper to explore this place. Large rocks and boulders were spreading over a large area. My joy was indescribable.(5th Picture: One of many...)
"Here we are Zac..." I thought smiling. I was expecting to see a remarkable dusky grouper, a snapper maybe... But in vain. The rocky bottom ended at a depth of 10-12 m and with such an easy access from the beach, things seemed to be very difficult. Fishing some part of the rocky bottom, I finally caught a white sea bream (Diplodus sargus) about a kilo and I was very happy. (6th Picture: The first big in size fish...).That's where my first fishing trip ended. Having no other choices and knowing the place a little better this time, we visited again the next day. I only took my short speargun and so my buoy was light enough to be able to fight the weather that yesterday was pushing me towards the open sea. I also wore my camouflage on my head and dived. In my second shallow ambush, to warm up my lungs, a nice school of mullets (Mugil cephalus)appeared in front of me. Stavroula had requested ceviche, so I aimed and shot one of the biggest mullets. (7th Picture: For ceviche...).The spear caught the mullet just before the tail and I was thinking about the ceviche as I hung it on my buoy. Then, I started swimming to find yesterday's rocks. After several minutes of swimming, I got where I wanted to be. The weather was pushing me towards the open sea, but today I was ready to tackle all its tricks. As I was swimming, various white sea breams were running towards different directions, my gaze caught the movement of a white sea bream getting under a rock. I approached slowly looking around the place. On the next stone, in a small opening, I noticed the movement of a nice white sea bream.
"Probably it is the one I saw ..." I said to myself and dived as calmly as I could. The fish continued swimming in the entrance of the rock. I dived, managing to be covered by the previous rock. When I approached it and I was in a shooting range, I looked for the white sea bream. It was there. As soon as it turned and showed me a bigger target, I pulled the trigger and caught one near the kilo of white sea bream (900 gr.). (8th Picture: One more...) Full of joy, I put it on the buoy and continued. I saw many white sea breams, but they were very scared. They did not hide under the rocks. When I was ambushing on the sea bed, they were swimming to the surface so that they could see where I was!!!
"Smart and difficult fish Zak to catch...." I thought and dived for another ambush. I was hiding among some slabs, but the white sea breams I had seen were nowhere around. As I turned, I saw 5-6 fish approaching me from the side that I was completely uncovered. I had forgotten to turn on the underwater camera. I turned it on and waited. The biggest fish, turned away from me and I aimed as best as I could and pulled the trigger. The spear stroke the white sea bream finely on the back. The fish swam under a slab, but it was too late for it. So I caught another white sea bream that was 650 gr.
"Lets continue..." I said to myself, smiling. After some fruitless ambushes, I found again the herd of the sly white sea breams. I dived into the first rock, crawled and hid into a hole of the second rock and waited. The white sea breams swam high up close to God and watched me from a safe distance!!! I had no choice but to wait. The fish swam towards my right and the size of the rock did not allow me to see them anymore. I waited even longer. After a while, a good size white sea bream made the mistake of wanting to see me and appeared in front of me. It is quite far, but it was within range. I aimed as best I can and pulled the trigger. The spear stoke the white sea bream a little above its tail. The fish tried to swim away but it was too late. I caught a white sea bream of 550 gr. I continued my ambushes, which as usual most were fruitless. The white sea breams were scared and did not approach me at all. They stayed far away close to the sea surface!!! So I decided to ambush behind a large stone that was almost out of the sea. The fish were not approaching... I continued waiting... and then a good size sharp-snout sea bream (Diplodus putanzzo) broke away from the rest of the herd and swam towards me. I tried to hide as much as I could and the fish approached me even closer. When it was close enough, it turned to leave, giving me a bigger target. I shot it and caught a nice sharp-snout sea bream of 800 gr. (9th Picture: The firstsharp-snout sea bream...). I continued ambushing where ever possible, but now the white sea breams were vanished. I decided to approach the end of the fishing spot and dive. While on the surface, I saw 4 sharp-snout sea bream swimming a little farther. I swam away from them and dived. The fish started swimming towards me. They split into two groups and the biggest one came even closer to observe me. I understood that it was not going to approach me anymore, I aimed and pulled the trigger. The spear stoke the fish on its neck and sharp-snout sea bream trembled and fall on the sea bed.(10th Picture: One moresharp-snout sea bream...). I happily embraced my new trophy and put it on the buoy. The seafloor had changed and seaweed was spreading in front of me. The depth was greater at this point. I took off the camouflage from my head and hung it on the buoy. I did several dives but saw nothing. I went even deeper but.... Then in one of my ambushes, I saw the silhouette of two fish on the verge of algae.
"They're probably corvinas (Sciaena umbra)..." I thought. I emerged and calmly swam towards the fish. From the surface I could barely see one of the two fish. As soon as I rested, I approached my goal even closer in the surface, took a deep breath and dived. I approached the corvina with the least possible movements and noises. I did not see the second fish anywhere. The other one, pushed a little deeper into the seaweed and waited. I could barely see it. I aimed as good as I could and pulled the trigger. The spear was stuck on the sea floor, but something was pulling the line into the algae. I pulled the line and the fish appeared, but the spear was well stuck to the bottom. So I had to take another dive to get the spear out. So I caught the 700 gr. corvina and decided to end my fishing trip.(11th Picture: ...and the corvina...).But Poseidon had not said his last word. Just before I left the algae, I saw a loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta-Caretta) sleeping??? I approached it slowly but it started to swim. I did not want to scare it so I emerged. To my great surprise the turtle followed me close enough to observe me. The same thing happened three times, but each time it stayed more and more further away. Finally the turtle sat on the sandy bottom and waited. I approached it as close as I could, until loggerhead sea turtle left for the deep blue. I said goodbye to my ancient friend and headed for the beach.(12th Picture: An ancient friend!!!).Little further down, a pit on the seabed was full of some yellow jellyfish, which look like styrofoam from a package of Poseidon???!!! (13th Picture: ???).As I was approaching the sea shore, I meet a huge herd of streamlined spinefoot (Siganus argenteus) nibbling on the seabed??? What could the streamlined spinefoot eat in the sand??? But observing better, I noticed that they were nibbling on the points where something was coming out of the bottom. The sand was white as milk!!! Thus ended my spearfishing expedition in the beautiful island of Milos. As it was expected, we had fish for dinner. Among other things, I prepared the requested ceviche while Stavroula undertook the setting of the dish. She put it in the perfect spot and took a professional photo of the subject. Easily this dish could be presented in an expensive restaurant. It is understood that that night had a gourmet dinner!!! (14th Picture: Ceviche...by master chefs...).During our staying in Milos, we also visited various museums. We especially liked the archeological one. Stunning figurines with their simple lines, various clay and marble statues. We were sad as soon as we saw the plaster model of Aphrodite of Milos. The ancient statue was found broken in six pieces around 1820 and bought by the French government. Later they sent us the copy that now dominates one of the two rooms of the museum. (15th Picture: The two beauties together, the original & the fake!!!). Finally we went to see the catacombs. Because there is a risk of collapse, most of them were not allowed to enter.. (16th Picture: The catacombs.).Elsewhere, hot water was coming into the sea. I did not miss the opportunity to pay a visit. I noticed that the water was not so hot and I got under it. Stavroula found an opportunity and took a picture... (17th Picture: No comments...).Thus ended our vacation in beautiful island of Milos. We hope to visit again this beautiful island of Cyclades.(18th Picture: All the trophies together.)

Title: A fishing expedition on the Myrtoan Sea.

Title:A fishing expedition on the Myrtoan Sea.
Photo-video: Zacharias Skevofilax.
The date for the fishing expedition was set some months ago. But when the coveted date arrived, Theodore and Maria could not attend due to family obligations. So I left with Stavroula... The road was fine until we left the national road. Although the distance was relatively short, the unlimited turns, the narrow roads and the mountain peaks we had to cross, literally tired us. Finally, 4.5 hours later, the sea appeared in front of us. Large and steep cliffs, descending to the sea and suddenly to a wonderful green valley. It's as if we were in one of Jules Verne's novels or in Jurasic Park... A cut-off valley in the middle of nowhere. We had finally arrived in Kyparissi. (1st Picture: The beautiful Kyparissi!!!) Surrounded by towering mountains, it could not be seen from the road at all. Only when one gets too close can actually see it. The driving was a life-time experience !!! We arrived at the hotel and after settling in, we went out for a walk and later on for dinner. Everything was calm. Even serving food has its own serenity. It was as if the locals were doing it on purpose, so we could enjoy the wonderful landscape. Of course, after a while we were not bothered at all by this slowness. It was almost enjoyable and the rhythms of everyday life dropped. Smiling people, greeted us (most of them)... as is the essence of Life. Of course, we ended up for a local dessert in the store called Glykaki. What impressed us was an inscription written by the owner, Mrs. Nora, which said:
"Life is short,
Time flies,
Enjoy Life" Nora!!!(2nd picture).Together with her husband Mr. George they made homemade, delicious sweets and along with their kindness everything was just perfect...
But let's go back to the spearfishing. Since they were not able to join us, Theodore and Maria, I asked him where to dive and of course he told me every needed detail about where to go. When I was writing them down, a thought came out loud: "Is there a place that you haven't fished???" A loud laugh was heard and a simple: "There are ...." was heard as an answer.
I woke up early in the morning and drove for the fishing spot. I had some doubts about Theodore's signs, since he had fished this place about 20 years ago. I dived from the beach and as I was swimming, I saw something strange half-hidden in the sand. I dived next to it and saw a fairly large lizardfish (Synodus intermedius). It was hidden under the sand and having the appropriate skin-colour, it was almost invisible. (3rd Picture: The lizardfish waiting...) It was waiting for any small fish to pass by to catch it. As soon as I approached it, the lizardfish took off, went a little further to plunge back into the sand. This happened 3-4 times, until I got the video-shots I wanted and left it alone. So I started looking for the signs of Theodore... In the shallows, I was surprised to find the slit exactly where he told me. A horizontal deep slit where you do not expect it to be. I was looking for white sea breams (Diplodus sargus), but the slit was full of small corvinas(Sciaena umbra). They were fish, weighting from 300 gr to 500 gr at most. I searched the slit well but did not see any other fish. I was expecting to find a dusky grouper (Epinephelus guaza), due to the number of corvinas, but in vain. I swam to find the next part that Theodore had told me. Nice underwater stones appeared in front of me, in the middle of nowhere, as my friend had described them to me. So I started the ambushes, hoping that something good would come to me. In vain again. Some large size white sea breams are still running.... At some point and while I was well hidden, I saw a stingray (Myliobatoidei) on the seabed. I come out of my hiding place, just to have the video shot. As soon as it realised my presence it disappeared with the blink of an eye.
"Things are going to be difficult ..." I thought. I swam ahead and saw a flock of white sea bream &two-banded sea bream (Diplodus vulgaris)coming in and out of a slit. I took the small speargun and dived. I reached the opening of the slit and the only remarkable fish was a two-banded sea bream.
"We did not come here for two-banded sea bream... " I said to myself and did not pull the trigger. As my head came out of the slit, I saw in front of me 6-7 snappers(Dentex dentex)looking at me. The biggest fish was about 3-3.5 kg and was about 3 meters away from me. I emerged as calmly as I could almost motionless, I could say. I took the long speargun and started the ambushes. I never saw them again, not even from far away!!! At some point I was surrounded by yellow jack (Carangoides bartholomaei)which were about a kilo in weight. I ignored them and kept looking for the snappers. The yellow jacks swam behind me and passed in front of me. Their beautiful yellow colours added a little more magic to the already magical seabed. I smiled watching them until they disappeared into the deep blue waters. (4th Picture: Beautiful and curious...) In one of the many ambushes, as I looked at the horizon, I realised that next to me in a slit there was a good size dusky grouper. The fish was on the outside of the slit, away from me. I emerged and after resting, dived closer to the big rock. But the dusky grouper had moved in and was looking at me motionless in the darkness provided by the slit of the rock. I continued ambushing looking for the snappers, but realising that they were not coming, I turned the speargun aiming the dusky grouper. I did not want to use my underwater flashlight, in order not to scare the fish. I aimed and pulled the trigger. The spear was shaking violently, while the fish tried to go to the right side, where it was the deepest part of the slit. But as I was pulling the rope, along with the long spear,I was successful tostop its movement. At that moment, a large red scorpionfish(Scorpaena scrofa) moved and hide a little further down. I emerged with the rope stretched. I took a few quick breaths, tied the rope to the buoy, took the short speargun and dived again. The entire dusky grouper was out of the slit but one of the flaps of the spear was stuck on the rock, otherwise I would have the dusky grouper in my hands with the first dive. (5th Picture: The king is caught...) freed the spear and realising that my shot was almost perfect, there was no meed for second shot. The spear had stoke the fish under its eye... (6th Picture: The end..." arranged the 3.5 kg. dusky grouper on my buoy and dived for the scorpionfish. It was right there, where I had seen it and it was hiding in the blur caused from the battle with the dusky grouper. Easy target and so I got a 600 gr. scorpionfish. (7th Picture:...and the big red scorpionfish....) I continued the ambushes but even the white sea bream did not appear. As I was swimming in the surface, I saw a fish shape that was probably lied down on the sandy bottom. It looked like a big dusky grouper. Without much thought, I took a deep breath and dived. As I was approaching the bottom, the silhouette of the fish became clearer. It was a large Mediterranean moray eel(Muraena helena), which had come out of a hole and was hovering, waiting for something good to pass... I approached it to get the underwater video shot, while the moray eel scared, crawled backwards in its hole. I decided to try my luck on deeper waters. Plunged the weight at the end on the rope of the buoy and got ready to dive. By the time the weight landed on the seabed, a good size grey triggerfish(Balistes capriscus)appeared observing the yellow weight. Without wasting any time I dived towards the fish. The triggerfish just turned and looked at me, giving me a big target. I aimed and caught a two kilos fish (2,200 gr). (8th Picture:I The delicacy is caught...) I did a few more ambushes but..... I had reached a small but deep cape, which was the third place of Theodore. The cape was on the eye of the weather and so the sea was a little more cloudy. I did some deep dives, but I did not see anything great. Small golden groupers (Epinephelus costae) were hiding left and right. In one of the dives and while I was crawling to reach the underwater cliff, I saw in front of me a good size white sea bream. I turn the speargun slightly and as I was ready to pull the trigger, I realised a good size golden grouper looking at me from a deeper rock. I left the white sea bream alone and continued towards the golden grouper. I got as close as I could and pulled the trigger. The spear found the golden grouper high on its neck and as it entered its hole it was released from the spear. No matter how hard I searched the hole I could n't find it. The good thing is that it will live for many years after this experience. I decided to go a little deeper and look for the underwater cliff that looked good. So on the next dive and as I was heading deeper, I noticed on my left and shallower, a school of nice corvina. I turned towards to the fish. The corvina noticed my presence and started swimming. I aimed one of the largest, and pulled the trigger. The spear found the corvina on the neck and pined the fish on the seabed. I gently pulled and emerged with a 800 gr. corvina.(9th Picture: The nice corvina...) After I rested, I took another dive in case I could find any more corvina but... So I gathered all my gear and swam towards the beach. There, just before I went out, something different caught my eye. A tiny common octopus (Octopus vulgaris)was looking at me behind a stone. As I approached, it pulled the stone and closed the entrance of its cave. This was how my fishing expedition in the Myrtoam Sea ended.
P.S1. The grey triggerfish and the scorpionfish we was eaten with the best company...(10th Picture: The best company!!!)
P.S2. The dusky grouper was eaten by the best company, accompanied with two good friends from Argentina, Pia & Marcos... (11th Picture: The crazy bunch...)
